Geological and Historical Significance
Roque Nublo was formed millions of years ago due to volcanic activity and erosion, creating the unique and towering monolith seen today. The name "Nublo" means "cloudy rock," as the peak is often enveloped in mist, adding to its mystical allure.
Historically, Roque Nublo held great spiritual significance for the indigenous Guanche people, who considered it a sacred site. Today, it remains a symbol of Gran Canaria and is protected as a natural monument within the UNESCO-listed Biosphere Reserve.
